Anyone know if it is true that if you upgrade from SL 10.6 to Lion 10.7 you no longer can use Quicken for Mac 2007? I saw that here: If so what are some solutions other than not upgrading the O.S? There is not nor will not be any updated versions of Quicken for Mac. You can run Quicken for PCs on Bootcamp or in Windows on your Mac as a virtual machine. But, if you want to get away from using Windows? This alone would stop me from updating to Lion but, eventually I’ll need to update the Mac OS. (New computer, need a future feature, etc.) It would be nice to find an alternative to Quicken or another solution.
Just don't upgrade to Lion, upgrade to Lion on its own partition, and leave Snow Leopard on another partition. No software as of yet that I know about requires Lion. If Wells Fargo doesn't support you when you do need to upgrade, drop Wells Fargo and go to a bank that doesn't have a platform limit. Wells Fargo seriously needs to read regarding web accessibility. For 17 years, the web has had people who have tried as hard as possible to make the web completely agnostic as to what browser or platform anyone is using, and there are still companies that don't care, and only develop for specific platforms. In doing so they make your money less secure, because anything that is one platform only is easier to hack.
Quicken Essential does not support investment tracking. I have over 15 years of checkbook, stock/fund investments and Quicken 2007 tracks all my costs, gains, lots and exports that data to TurboTax at Tax time for my schedule D. Spreadsheet Solutions don't support bill pay as Quicken 2007 does. I simply enter the transaction into my quicken register, enter SEND instead of a check number and Quicken transmits the payment request to my bank.
No double entry and no requirement to use my bank's web bill pay. I can draw a net worth chart going back to the early 1990s because ALL my accounts and assets have been tracked since then in Quicken version up to 2007. Unfortunately, I'm held hostage by their database format. I don't know of any management tool that completely accepts a transfer of all my Quicken data.

I don't want to hijack the thread but I want to thank Justan as this actually is the first Mac software that seems promising to replace MS Money (which is a discontinued product) and the only reason I run a Windows virtual machine. It all depends on your needs: I don't need automatic downloads, payment requests or tax forms, but advanced options to manage stock options.
And yes, I evaluated, and often bought almost all of the personal finance software available for Mac OS X. I have given up on Quicken years ago, but I can understand that there is a large user base, especially in the US. As for Quicken and Lion for those who have faith in Intuit: Eric P.S. You can try to get it from Quicken support. If you have already purchased QM2017, you can get it for free as an intermediary version.
I suggest that you make sure that Quicken 2017 for Mac will meet your needs, since it is not an upgrade from QM2007 but rather from Quicken Essentials (which was re-written from the ground up, starting in 2010), so there are some features that are still not there e.g. Loan amortization, 2-line display, QuickMath, auto-backups, or are not as fully developed yet, e.g. Customized Reports, investment lot management, performance reports and stats (therefore some data may not carry over). You can start here: Currently, the main advantages of QM2017 over QM2007 include the ability to sync cash, bank, and credit card accounts using Quicken Mobile for mobile devices (iOS and Android) and the ability to save receipts with transactions via computer or mobile device. There are a few other minor features that QM2007 does not have. Note that QM2017 is being supported until April 30, 2020 whereas it has been announced that security fixes have ceased for QM2007 since QM2017 is released.see yet online access will continue as long as the FI/Bank supports it and their security updates don't prevent it. You may want to review the.
Add your vote to any features that are missing for you. Your VOTES matter! I think they were confused. Amazon doesn't sell very old software. I think they meant to suggest looking on eBay, where you can sometimes find one. You need to be aware there are two distinct 'flavors' of Quicken 2007, and which one you need depends on the computer(s) and operating system(s) you have available.
Do you still have the old Mac which has been running Quicken 2002, as well as a new one which would run Quicken 2018? If so, then any copy of Quicken 2007 will work. If you no longer have the Mac running Mac OS 10.6.8 or earlier, and are trying to just update the file on a modern Mac, then you must find the version of Quicken 2007 called 'Quicken for Lion' or 'Quicken for Mac Lion Compatible' or version 16.1.x or later. Yup, I see those offers on Amazon, too, so I stand corrected in saying Amazon doesn't sell such old software. But there's a big Buyer Beware on those sales of old, used copies of Quicken 2007 (aside from the fact that they're price-gouging by selling for far more than the program sold for when it was current): the sellers do not indicate whether it is the original Quicken 2007 (16.0.x) which will only run on computers running Mac OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) or earlier, but that is what I'd assume if these are all from original boxed versions. If you have a Mac running Mac OS 10.7 (Lion) or later, the original Quicken 2007 will NOT run at all; you need to find Quicken 2007 for Lion (version 16.1.x).
I'm not sure, but I don't think there were any boxed versions of the updated Quicken 2007 for Lion. I would suggest you message the seller(s) on Amazon and ask them to check exactly what version they are selling you before you buy, to make sure it's the version you want/need. I need to rebuild my 5 yo MBP and have been figuring where I got all the apps I have on it - download, CD, what comes with the OS install. Currently we're running QM2007 for Mac because we bought QM2015 and can't stand the new register display; just prefer the old fashioned checkbook register format. Anyway, we can't find the Install CD yet and I came here to see what options we have. Good to know QM2017 still has problems, so starting to think it's time to look at other options since QM2007 won't last forever. Thanks for all the info and am going to contact Intuit so we can squeeze a few more years out this version I LUV.
